IT Chance for all – ICT Cluster Academy 2016/2017


Project „IT – chance for all" is ICT Cluster Academy which is a course of hi-tech education and internships based on recruitment needs of businesses with the aim to employ or increase employability of the unemployed in Nis region. Project is implemented by Nis Cluster of Advanced Technologies with GIZ ACCESS and Development Agency Serbia financial support.





Beginning project is the concept of one-day training for developing business ideas. The best teams and individuals after this training will be selected for a three-day Start-up Academy.

Reasons for the Project Initiation: The absence of a clear picture of the development and investment capacities, possibilities and potentials of the city of Nis and the degree of development of the advanced technology sector, both in the local community and on the national and regional levels, insufficient communication between system institutions and research, development and educational institutions with the manufacturing sector and their poor cooperation.


Presentation of economic and investment potential of the City of Nis to Diaspora in Austria



NiCAT cluster, in partnership with the city of Nis – the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora, as well as the Regional Development Agency South and the Alliance of Serbs in Austria, realized a project "Presentation of economic and investment potential of the city of Nis to Diaspora in Austria.




The project aim was to further promote the concept of cross-sectoral cluster cooperation through the development and implementation of innovative joint projects relating to product development, as well as developing and testing a prototype of the project and the introduction and testing of new production processes with the use of technology in the field of electro medicine - with the participation of the companies from all 5 sectors represented in the cluster, as well as several research institutions. It is a portable medical device for skin examination - dermatoscope. The project was implemented by nine members of the cluster.


ICT Cluster Academy


ICT Cluster Academy Nis developed and offered two six-month training modules, tailored to the Nis region ICT sector needs. Module 1 for Software Developers and Module 2 for Embedded Specialists consists of five courses each (including two compulsory courses, same for both modules) that were developed to teach specific skills relevant to NiCAT ICT members, and included a four-month internship in one of the companies from the cluster or other companies.


Intersector project


The specific objective of the project was to promote the concept of inter-sectorial cluster cooperation through the development and implementation of joint innovative projects related to new product development, and development and testing of the prototype of the project and the implementation and testing of a new production process. 7 companies from 4 sectors (optoelectronics, automation, ICT, mechanical engineering) developed a highly-sophisticated world class product HUNTER x4. Best clusters project on innovative clusters call in Serbia 2013/2014.


ATM Integration


Institutional, Business and Educational integration in the area of Advanced Technologies and Mechatronics (ATM). The project aims to enhance cross-border business cooperation in the ATM field and envisages activities that deploy the existing potential for competitive participation on the joint EU market. Thus, project impact is spelled out in an increased capacity of the stakeholders to cross-border cooperation trough joint business, R&D and manufacturing projects or other forms of business partnerships. It had a collaboration web-based platform, and a cross-border Expert Council with a continuant operation beyond project life, providing access to consultancy on market opportunities.




The aim of the project was to increase the opportunities for ab international cooperation of the NiCAT cluster members, the establishment of marketing tools that will increase the capacity of the members to be present in foreign markets, and the increase in international co-operation (step up or they start exporting, participation in international projects, etc.). An additional goal was the institutional strengthening through effective operational and system's access to export activities (regular operation section for marketing and internationalization).
