Science and Technology Park Nis (NTP Nis) and Nis Cluster of Advanced Technologies (NiCAT cluster) 24.02. signed an agreement on mutual cooperation in order to improve cooperation and joint work on the development of the innovation ecosystem.
NTP Nis was founded in 2020 with the aim of providing infrastructure support and professional services to subjects of innovation (companies, scientific research and innovation organizations), attracting innovative (domestic and foreign) technology development companies and creating conditions for establishing more startups and spin-off companies and their development. Today, in this dynamic environment, over 40 innovative companies are intensively developing their projects.
NiCAT cluster has been working for 10 years since its establishment to increase the value and turnover of cluster members in the domestic and international markets, strengthen the capacity of companies for technological development and innovation and development of new technological products and to promote the city of Nis as a favorable location for conducting business in advanced technologies.
As such, both organizations, which bring together almost 100 companies through mutual cooperation and in the interest of strengthening the cooperation of their members, can achieve the best results in defined areas, such as joint work on branding Nis and lobbying for the Nis tech scene, mutual promotions, joint participation in development projects, education with focus on technological entrepreneurship, activities related to establishing cooperation between member companies, etc.
The innovation ecosystem in Nis and the region has advanced a lot in recent years - significant startup projects have been mapped, conditions for the development of technological entrepreneurship have been somewhat facilitated, and various types of financing are available to domestic innovators depending on the development phase. The shortcomings and challenges that still need to be worked on have been identified, and what is needed is the continuous strengthening of the ideas and capacities of startups, as well as the research activities of mature companies.
